The final officer wounded in a shootout outside a Northeast Philadelphia home was discharged from the hospital on Saturday afternoon.
Using crutches, the officer left Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital around 3:50 p.m. amid applause from fellow officers. He was then given a police escort back to his home.
This officer was one of three shot on Wednesday night following a family dispute inside a home on the 7500 block of Whitaker Avenue in Rhawnhurst. The altercation escalated into a shootout, triggered by an argument between a 12-year-old boy’s uncle and father, identified as 42-year-old Michael Hwang, who later obtained a firearm, according to investigators.
