The Philadelphia City Council is actively considering the utilization of drones to enhance crime-fighting efforts.

In a recent demonstration held in the council’s public safety committee, the potential benefits of employing drones in law enforcement were showcased.

Proponents of this initiative highlight that drones can provide law enforcement with a unique perspective, allowing them to access areas that officers on the ground cannot easily reach. Drones have the capability to search alleys for suspects, offer a clear view of ongoing crimes before officers arrive, and even deliver a phone to a suspect during hostage situations.

It’s worth noting that approximately 1,400 police departments across the nation already incorporate aerial technology in various capacities.
