
On Thursday, Philadelphia’s beloved sports mascots, including Gritty, the Phanatic, Sweep, Franklin, and Phang, will come together to honor five esteemed local veterans.
The heartwarming event will take place at the Delaware Valley Veteran Home, where the mascots will proudly present team jerseys to these senior Philadelphia veterans.
Notable moments include Flyer’s Gritty recognizing Army veteran Robert Taylor, the Phanatic honoring Navy veteran Marvin Siegler, Swoop saluting Eagles superfan George Rodgers, Franklin celebrating basketball enthusiast and Marine Corp veteran James Hetherington, and Phang paying tribute to lifelong Philadelphia native and Air Force veteran Louis Isern.
This touching gesture is part of The Philadelphia Veterans Parade and Festival, scheduled for Sunday at 12:30 p.m. along Market Street.
