Glu Hospitality has unveiled Chika, a two-level subterranean ramen bar on Sansom Street in Rittenhouse Square, Center City, inspired by the iconic movie “Blade Runner.” Chika, meaning basement in Japanese, immerses patrons in neon lights, original artwork, and stylish decor, creating a futuristic atmosphere. With room for numerous diners and an elevated back-dining area for private events, Chika promises a unique dining experience.
Derek Gibbons and Tim Lu, partners of Glu Hospitality, conceived Chika to bridge the worlds of food, drinks, and design. The restaurant offers an array of Asian-inspired dishes, including traditional ramen, otsumami, hand rolls, and more. The signature dish, tonkotsu chashumen, features a “tonkotsu” noodle soup with marinated chashu pork, shiitake, and a medley of delectable toppings.
In addition to a diverse cocktail menu, Chika showcases movie-inspired cocktails like “Deckard” and “Roy Batty.” Executive Chef Dean Leevongcharoen, with an extensive culinary background, has crafted the menu, ensuring a memorable dining experience.
Chika currently serves dinner and late-night meals, with lunch and brunch offerings coming soon. Operating hours are Sunday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to midnight, and Friday to Saturday from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m.
