Effective January 1, 2024, SEPTA will cease accepting tokens as a form of payment.
Although the sale of tokens concluded in 2018, SEPTA has maintained their acceptance on buses, trolleys, and via fare kiosks at stations and bus loops.
Officials emphasize the importance of utilizing any remaining tokens before their expiration at the close of 2023. Each token holds a $2 value and is non-redeemable for cash.
To make the transition smoother, officials suggest consolidating the value of remaining tokens onto a SEPTA Key card at a nearby fare kiosk.
