Tropical Storm Ophelia is gearing up to make landfall along the North Carolina coast this Saturday morning, and it’s bringing with it a barrage of adverse weather conditions. Forecasters predict that Ophelia will unleash strong winds, heavy rain, flash flooding, and coastal flooding, extending its impact from the Carolinas all the way up to southern New England.
Starting late Friday into Saturday, the Carolinas and the Mid-Atlantic coast will experience the onslaught of this tropical storm. Ophelia is expected to hit the North Carolina coast with winds of approximately 60 mph and even higher gusts before rapidly losing strength.
As Saturday unfolds, heavy rainfall will travel north through the Interstate 95 corridor, affecting major metropolitan areas such as Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and New York City.
